In October 2023, Gulf countries announced plans for a new type of visa called the “Schengen Type Visa.” In the Schengen area, there are 29 countries where this visa is valid. If you obtain this visa from one country, you can travel to the other 28 countries with the same visa.
The Gulf countries approved this unified tourist visa project in November 2023, and it was expected to launch between 2024 and 2025. However, as of 2026 the visa has still not launched — no official launch date, fee, or application portal has been announced, and travelers must still apply to each Gulf country separately.

Let’s talk about which these Gulf countries are: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. An important thing to note is that, until the unified visa actually launches, you still need a separate visa for each country, just as before.
The plan is that, once launched, you will have just one visa useful for all Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. It is designed to promote tourism and make it easier for foreign workers in these countries to travel to other nations. For now, though, this single visa does not exist yet — keep using each country’s own e-visa or visa-on-arrival system.
