The Process to Get the Digital Birth Certificate Singapore
In order to get the digital birth certificate the baby should be born at a hospital gazetted as a birth registration center. This way all the data will be registered automatically in ICA’s system and parents can use the app to register and download the digital certificate.
Parents have a time window of 42 days to apply for a digital birth certificate for their newborns via the LifeSG app.
First, download the app from IOS or Android Google Play Store. The process of digital birth certificate Singapore using the LifeSG app is available to parents who meet the following criteria:
- One parent should be a Singapore citizen
- Both parents should have a Singpass account.
- When the child is born parents’ marriage is registered in Singapore.
- The baby is born at a hospital gazetted as a birth registration center.

There’s an issuance fee of S$18 for the digital birth certificate which can be paid via Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card. This covers the cost of the registration process, including IT system development and maintenance, as per ICA.
For Walk-in Registration
If the child was not born at a hospital gazetted as a birth registration center. You can do a walk-in registration at any designated birth registration center located at:

Parents also have a choice to collect the birth certificate by making an appointment at the birth registration center located at the hospital where the baby was born, or at the ICA Registry of Births and Deaths.
Digital Death Certificate Singapore:
The same goes for the digital death certificate as the next-of-kin will no longer need to register deaths. A medical practitioner will certify the death and, it will be registered automatically in ICA’s system. A digital death certificate will be generated by the system instantly. The next-of-kin can then get information such as the digital death certificate number from the medical practitioner or a hospital employee. This will allow them to download the certificate from the My Legacy porta on the LifeSG app.
Once you have the required information from the hospital, just follow the steps given below to download the death certificate:
There is a 90 days time window to download digital birth certificates. After the 90 days have been passed contact ICA for assistance at [email protected]. You will not be charged the S$18 fee again. For the death certificates, Next-of-kin has up to 30 days time window.
