Germany has thousands of security-related vacancies—but could a foreign security guard actually get hired?
The answer can be yes, potentially, but applicants from outside the EU need to understand the difference between finding a job and qualifying to legally work in Germany.
Germany’s Federal Employment Agency currently lists more than 2,000 vacancies related to §34a security work, including full-time positions in cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Berlin and other locations.
For foreign workers, however, the biggest questions are usually work authorization, German-language ability, security qualifications and the employer’s willingness and ability to hire internationally.
Security Jobs Available in Germany
Foreign applicants can search for positions such as:
– Security Guard
– Security Officer
– Security Employee
– Site Security Guard
– Factory Security
– Warehouse Security
– Reception Security
– Access-Control Officer
– Event Security
– Property Protection
– CCTV and surveillance-related positions
Some current German listings are offering full-time employment and hourly wages in the range of approximately €15–€18 per hour, depending on the position and employer. These figures are examples from current advertisements, not guaranteed salaries for overseas applicants.
Legitimate Companies to Check
Instead of relying on unknown agents advertising on Facebook or WhatsApp, applicants can check established security employers directly.
1. Sodexo Services GmbH
Sodexo currently appears in Germany’s Federal Employment Agency job database with security positions in Frankfurt and Munich. Current listings include security employees under §34a, with advertisements showing approximately €15.50 per hour in Frankfurt and €17.50 per hour in Munich.
Applicants should apply through the company’s official careers channel and check whether a particular vacancy accepts applicants who require immigration sponsorship.
2. WISAG
WISAG is another established German services company with current security vacancies.
The Federal Employment Agency currently lists WISAG security positions in locations including Mainz, Hannover, Frankfurt and Koblenz. Several advertisements require the §34a qualification or instruction.
3. Piepenbrock
Piepenbrock is another company appearing in current Federal Employment Agency security listings.
Current vacancies include security employees requiring Sachkundeprüfung §34a GewO, as well as positions requiring §34a instruction.
4. Siba Security Service GmbH
Siba Security Service also appears in the Federal Employment Agency’s current listings.
Current advertisements include security employees with §34a qualifications in locations such as Karlsruhe and Bremen.
5. ForSec Security e.K.
ForSec Security currently has security-worker vacancies listed in Munich, including positions requiring Sachkunde §34a.
Important: These Companies Are Not Automatically Visa Sponsors
This is extremely important for applicants outside the EU.
A company having a security vacancy does NOT mean that it will sponsor a foreign worker.
A vacancy may be intended for applicants who already have:
– German work authorization
– German residency
– The required §34a qualification
– German-language skills
– Local experience
Therefore, foreign applicants should contact the employer directly and ask whether the specific position is open to candidates who need a German work visa.
Do not pay an agent simply because they show you a genuine vacancy.
What Is §34a?
One of the most important terms foreign security guards will encounter in Germany is:
§34a GewO
German private security work is regulated under Section 34a of the Trade Regulation Act.
Depending on the specific duties, a security worker may need the appropriate instruction or qualification, including the Sachkundeprüfung. The exact requirement depends on the type of security work being performed.
Applicants should therefore check the requirements of the individual position rather than assuming that every security job requires the same certificate.
Is German Language Required?
In many security positions, German is very important.
A security guard may have to communicate with:
– Customers
– Employees
– Police
– Emergency services
– Supervisors
– Visitors
The worker may also need to understand instructions and prepare incident reports.
For this reason, foreign applicants who speak German may have a much better chance than applicants who speak only English.
Can a Security Guard From the Philippines, India, Pakistan or Other Countries Apply?
Potentially, yes.
Germany does employ international workers, but a person living outside the EU must qualify for an appropriate immigration route.
The applicant should first determine:
1. Is the job legally available to an overseas applicant?
2. Does the applicant meet the security qualification requirements?
3. Does the applicant meet the language requirements?
4. Can the employer legally employ the applicant?
5. Does the applicant qualify for the required German residence/work permit?
These questions should be answered before paying a recruitment agency.
How to Search for Genuine Vacancies
One of the safest starting points is the German Federal Employment Agency’s official Job Search.
Search using German terms such as:
Sicherheitsmitarbeiter
Sicherheitsdienst
Wachmann
Sicherheitskraft
§34a Sicherheitsmitarbeiter
The Federal Employment Agency currently shows thousands of security-related vacancies, demonstrating that the demand for security workers is real.
Warning About Recruitment Scams
Foreign applicants should be especially careful with advertisements saying:
“Germany Security Guard Visa Guaranteed!”
“No German language required!”
“No interview!”
“Pay now and your visa is guaranteed!”
These claims should be treated as warning signs.
A legitimate job offer should contain identifiable employer information, a genuine employment contract and clear information about salary, working hours and conditions.
Most importantly:
Never assume that paying an agent guarantees a German work visa.
Verify the employer and the immigration pathway independently.
Germany has a real and active security job market, with thousands of security-related vacancies appearing in the Federal Employment Agency’s database.
For foreign security guards, however, the opportunity is not simply about finding a vacancy.
Experience + German language + recognised qualifications + a legal immigration pathway = a much stronger application.
If you are currently working as a security guard outside Europe, Germany may be worth researching—but make sure you investigate the visa and qualification requirements before spending money on recruitment.
The vacancy may be real.
The question is whether YOU are legally eligible to fill it.
