JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia’s aviation authority has made it essential to have the coronavirus (“Tawakkalna”) app on their mobile phones for passengers boarding flights in the state.
In this respect, the president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Abdulaziz Al-Duaij has sent directives to every single national airline companies operating in the state to quickly join the data for passengers’ flights with the passenger’s health condition on the “Tawakkalna” app and to limit the granting of boarding passes only to passengers whose health condition on the app is mentioned as “immunized” or “affliction with COVID-19 not evince.
The GACA chief has quoted with Minster of Health Tawfiq Al-Rabiah about the progress, which has been come into effect on Thursday 22 April.
Al-Duaij has also imposed on all airline companies to provide passengers the facility to receive SMS text messages on the cancellation of their bookings who have booked via the computerized booking system if their health condition has been proven to be different from the required health conditions.
For the moment, GACA is working in cooperation with the security authorities in escalating inspection and supervision rounds and visits to the airports, GACA buildings, installations, and facilities to detect violators of the preventive measures. Screening points have introduced for measuring body temperatures or look over the “Tawakkalna” app and appointing a “protocol” official in each and every facility and over 250 supervisors to monitor and follow up the execution of the preventive measures.
Additionally, in all the GACA buildings, airports, and facilities the awareness and educational text messages have been increased. All companies and shopping centers in the airports to comply with precautionary and preventive health measures, the aviation authority has also asked.
To prevent the growth of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) GACA is applying all the precautionary measures in the state’s airports in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
In this regard, including the highest precaution and prevention levels, it has carried out a package of measures in preparation for implementing all health measures, as stated in the safety requirements and World Health Organization (WHO) criteria and standards.
