The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has introduced many streams, the New Brunswick Express Entry stream is one of them. The province of New Brunswick is responsible for operating a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The purpose of this stream is to find foreign workers who are high-skilled and will provide their assistance to the New Brunswick economy. The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream is operating on a system of Expression of Interest. Only the candidates with specific eligibility criteria will be selected. The candidates selected through the New Brunswick Express Entry stream will be further invited to submit an application for Canadian permanent residency. This stream is also associated with the federal Express Entry immigration system. A valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool is required to be eligible for the stream.
Eligibility and Requirements for the New Brunswick Express Entry stream
Active Express Entry Profile
New Brunswick Express Entry stream is also associated with the federal Express Entry immigration system. If a candidate wants to be eligible an active Express Entry profile is necessary.
Language Proficiency
All candidates must score at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 in all four language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in English or French.
Level of Education
Candidates should have at least a Canadian high school diploma or its foreign equivalent.
Work Experience
Candidates must have at least one year of continuous work experience within the past 10 years in one NOC occupation in a TEER category 0, 1, 2 or 3.
Age Requirement
Candidates must be between 19 and 55 years old on the day of submitting the application.
Selection Factors
Minimum 67 points are mandatory on the stream’s selection factors.
Expression of Interest
Before submitting an expression of interest through your INB account, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements above. Submitting an expression of interest is free of charge.
Settlement Funds
There is a number of settlement funds that are determined by immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The candidate can fulfill this requirement by providing a statement of their own finances or a valid employment offer in New Brunswick.
Application Procedure for the New Brunswick Express Entry stream
The New Brunswick Express Entry Stream is operating on a system of Expression of Interest (EOI). Eligible candidates submit their federal Express Entry profile and then an expression of interest through the online INB account. Expressions of interest remain valid for 365 days, and invitations to apply are issued through scheduled draws.
Immigration New Brunswick reviews submitted expressions of interest and issues invitations to apply to selected candidates based on provincial labour-market needs and available allocation. There are now two pathways under the stream: Employment in New Brunswick and New Brunswick Interest.
The province of New Brunswick often selects and invites candidates from the Federal Express Entry pool. These are the candidates who didn’t submit an Expression of Interest to the program, they are only selected because of their eligibility for the stream. Their skills and labor are needed for New Brunswick. A Letter of Interest (LOI) will be sent to the candidate’s Express Entry account who are selected through the pool by the province.
Applicant’s selection depends on their ranks on the New Brunswick Express Entry stream Selection Factors. You must submit the complete nomination application within the timeline stated in your invitation letter. There is a fee of $250 CAD per applicant. The successfully selected applicants must accept their nomination within the deadline given in their nomination notice — check your invitation documents for the exact timeframe.
Once the provincial nomination is accepted, the applicant’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score will get 600 extra points. This greatly improves the candidate’s chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
Application Process Time for New Brunswick Express Entry stream
After that, the applicant should start preparing and submitting an official application for Canadian permanent residency within the given deadline. According to IRCC, Express Entry applications for provincial nominees currently take about 7 months to process.
