UK Tier 2 visa is an employment visa which allows skilled workers to take up a long term employment in UK. It is usually known as Skilled Worker Visa. UK Tier 2 General Work Visa:

Tier 2 general work is a long term employment visa for skilled workers. This is one of the best immigration routes to get Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) in UK. ILR is also known as permanent residence. Foreign workers with Tier 2 visa are eligible to apply for UK ILR after living five years in UK. They may need to meet certain requirements to apply UK ILR. Tier 2 Visa For Dependents:

Another benefit of UK tier 2 visa is,  Foreign employee can bring dependents with this visa. Usually, dependents include spouse and children aged not more than 18 years.

IELTS for UK Visa:

You have to prove that you have sufficient knowledge of English. Usually, CEFR level B1 knowledge of English is required for Tier 2 general visa. If you have  4 bands or higher scores in ielts, you can meet this requirement. You can prove knowledge of English with other approved English Tests as well. Requirements for UK Tier 2 General Work Visa:

There are some basic eligibility requirements for UK Tier 2 General Work Visa, you have to meet these requirements to be eligible for this visa. The list of  requirements  of Tier 2 General visa is as follows:

  • Appropriate Salary: Annual salary offered in job offer  and certificate of sponsorship must be minimum 20,800 pounds or higher for new entrants and 30000 pounds or higher for experienced workers.   • Knowledge of English: CEFR Level B1.
  • Personal Savings: Bank statement of last 90 days with a minimum balance of 945 pounds to prove that you can bear expenses of first month in UK. Tier 2 General Work Visa Points System:

UK immigration uses points system to assess visa application for tier 2 general work visa. You need to secure minimum 70 points to get tier 2 visa successfully. Usually, UK immigration considers the following factors to award points:

  • English Proficiency Eligibility: 10 points
  • Available funds for settlement: 10 points
  • Qualification: Max 15 points
    1. GCE A Leval or equal = 5
    2. Bachelor or Master degree = 10
    3. PHD = 15
  • Certificate of Sponsorship: if certificate of sponsorship is granted in Shortage occupation list, you can get 50 points.
  • Prospective Earnings: Per annum Salary offered must be mentioned in certificate of sponsorship: Depending on salary offered you can get 10, 15 , 20 or 25 points.

UK Tier 2 Visa Fees:

Shortage Occupation List UK:

Shortage occupation list is a list of occupations which need more skilled workers in UK. UK immigration has revised skill shortage and added more occupations in 2109 first time after 2013. Benefits Being on Shortage Occupation List:
  • If your occupation on UK shortage occupation list, you will be given preference for UK tier 2 visa as this visa is quota based.
  • Your UK employer do not need to apply for Resident labor Market Test in UK.
  • You UK employer do not need to advertise job before hiring you.
  • You do not need to meet RQF level 6 education for Tier 2 Visa. Usually, you have to have minimum bachelor degree or higher for this visa but if your occupation is on shortage occupation list; you can apply with less education.  With  an occupation on shortage list, you can apply with RQF level 4 education.
  • Lower visa fees.
