Key Features of Seasonal Work Visa

One can apply it for a maximum of 6 months in the time of the last 12 months

  • It cannot be extended.
  • Family sponsorship is not possible.
  • Employees can change employers when they are in Sweden.
  • Minimum salary must be SEK 13000 monthly before tax.
  • Applicants should also show related qualification for regulated occupations.
  • There are no special requirements for minimum qualification.
  • Swedish language proficiency is not asked in the form of a certificate at the time of visa application.
  • If an applicant wants to work more than 90 days in Sweden, he will get a residence and work permit.

How to apply for the visa?

Seasonal work visa can only be applied on paper currently. Swedish migration board wants to convert it into an online visa application soon in the future. Once you have all the required documents in hand, you can visit the Swedish embassy in your country of origin to apply (in many countries, the embassy asks for an appointment before visiting). You can check here the Swedish embassies abroad.

Follow the steps below to apply for the seasonal work visa:

Fill in this visa application for a seasonal work permit in Sweden, form number 262011 (in English)

You must also have this offer of Employment, form number 232011 (in Swedish and English)

Accommodation details – if the employer rents or provides accommodation, form number 264011

Do include the following documents too with your application if you are a non-EU citizen:

  • statement from a trade union on the terms of employment you are being offered (you should obtain this from your employer)
  • information on the insurance company with which you have taken out a comprehensive health insurance policy, and the period of validity of
  • the insurance policy. The health insurance must cover health and medical care in Sweden.
  • a rental agreement if your employer is not providing you accommodation.
  • qualification documents confirming that you are qualified to practice your profession if you are going to work for a regulated occupation
  • a work contract signed by you and your employer
  • a valid passport
  • passport sized photographs
