Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
The Atlantic Immigration pilot program was first introduced as a part of a joint enterprise to increase economic growth by attracting skilled workers in Canada’s Atlantic Provinces. The Atlantic Provinces include Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Nova Scotia. If you want to qualify for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, an official job offer is mandatory. A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is necessary for a candidate in order to get a valid job offer in Canada for immigration purposes. But LMIA is not required for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, but the obtained job offer should be from a designated company. About 2,500 new immigrants were selected and welcomed to the Atlantic region in 2018. They set their target to 4,000 in 2020 and it keeps increasing year to year.
Atlantic Immigration Program Eligibility Requirements
Foreign National Requirements
Foreign nations who want to immigrate to either Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Labrador, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island, can apply for the Atlantic Immigration Pilot program. First of all, an official job offer from a designated company or employer is required.
Secondly, the foreign national should meet the eligibility requirements of the program streams. There are three streams of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. Each stream has different requirements. The following are the streams:
- High-Skilled Workers Stream
- Intermediate-Skilled Workers Stream
- International Graduates Stream
High-Skilled Worker Stream
If the candidate wants to qualify for this stream, a job offer with a position under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, or B offered by a Designated Employer for a minimum duration of one year is required. Applicant should meet the following criteria with a job offer:
Work Experience: A year minimum of full-time or part-time work experience.
Education: A High school diploma from a Canadian institute, or an alternate foreign equivalent.
Language Proficiency: An approved test of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 with a passing score in either English or French.
Proof of Funds: Proof of funds enough to support oneself and family members living in Canada.
Intermediate-Skilled Worker Stream
If the candidate wants to qualify for this stream, a job offer with a position under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, B, or C offered by a Designated Employer is required. Applicant should meet the following criteria with a job offer:
Work Experience: A year minimum of full-time or part time work experience at NOC level 0, A, B, or C.
Education: A High school diploma from a Canadian institute, or an alternate foreign equivalent.
Language Proficiency: An approved test of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 with a passing score in either English or French.
Proof of Funds: Proof of funds enough to support oneself and family members living in Canada.
International Graduates Stream
If the candidate wants to qualify for this stream, a job offer with a position under National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Level 0, A, B, or C offered by a Designated Employer is required. Applicant should meet the following criteria with a job offer:
Work Experience: No work experience
Education: A minimum 2 years duration of education from an institution in an Atlantic province and the applicant lived there at least 16 months during the two years of study. This education was completed within the previous 24-months.
Language Proficiency: An approved test of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 with a passing score in either English or French.
Proof of Funds: Proof of funds enough to support oneself and family members living in Canada.
